Diversity Practicum (45 hours): Spring 2020: AVID Tutoring: Simle High School: Mrs. Lori Furaus
I was an AVID tutor for eighth grade students at Simle Middle School. As an AVID tutor, I facilitated small, student-led discussions and prompted students to explain their reasonings and thoughts to answer their point of confusions. Through this process, I learned how important it is for students to be mindful of themselves and of their own thinking which is now a large component of my own teaching philosophy.
Below is my Capstone Paper from Cultural Diversity where I discuss in more detail my experiences with diversity and how it is important for teaching. |
